Rolls-Royce & Bentley Day 2010

Just stumbled across video of the 2010 Rolls-Royce & Bentley Owners Club Japan's annual Rolls-Royce & Bentley Day at the historic Red Brick warehouses in Yokohama.

Otherwise known as ロールス・ロイス&ベントレーDAY2010.

Always is a good turnout.

This year's summary is here.

Experimental Rolls-Royce's

Here are a couple of experimental Rolls-Royce's at the Derby factory.

The first is RC2406 (#31EX) Park Ward Limousine, scrapped after an accident in 1935.

Then there is RC2545 (#32EX) Phantom III Park Ward Saloon, currently located in Australia with same owner since 1965.

In the back #30EX, the first Phantom III (codename Spectre) Park Ward Limousine, scrapped in 1939.

Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud II 4-door Drophead by H.J. Mulliner

You learn things all the time about coachbuilt cars.

For example did you know that H.J. Mulliner made a Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud II 4-door Drophead?

It looks a little like a Continental Flying Spur with no roof. I like it.

If anyone has contemporary pictures and numbers build please send them in.

Thanks Andy for this photo.

Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud II D.H.C in Knightsbridge

Take a look at this one.

It's a beauty, just sent in by Johnny.

A Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud II Drop Head Coupe by coachbuilder H.J Mulliner.

The car was spotted in Knightsbridge, London yesterday.

A nice suburb for it.

It certainly is a good one, and great to see it parked up on the street.

Then Johnny continued around the corner and saw this.

This time a Bentley S2.

It looks very well kept.

Nice day to spot some nice cars in a nice suburb in London. Now time for a cup of tea.

Thanks Johnny for sending in the pictures, and the kind words.

The Aussie Continentals

This is one very rare sight downunder. Well actually, anywhere in the world.

Three Aussie Bentley Continentals from the late 80s, possibly early 90s in the same place at the same time.

Only 429 of these cars were made from 1984 till 1995, including numerous for the Sultan of Brunei, so they are very hard to find, and nice to collect. And drive. And own. And put the roof down. And drive some more.

The output of the factory in Crewe was around three and a quarter Bentley Continentals per month, with the coachwork made by Mulliner Park Ward. It was not because they were lazy, but because they were, and still are, very special cars.

Three continents together, with subtle cultural differences.

One with a badge bar, one without fog lamp covers, one with a white roof, one with chrome vains, one with head lamp wipers, one with colour coded rear view mirrors and all together speak the language of lust. They certaily look amazing.

The number plates are 'A1' from New South Wales, 'UUU 111' from Victoria and 'GGG 999' also from Victoria. 'A1' coincidently was previously spotted at the 53 Federal Rally of the Rolls-Royce Owners Club of Australia here.

I certainly want one. Do you?

If you do, and you are interested 'UUU 111' has come up for sale, the one with the chrome vains and a white roof in Royal Blue.

Ekberg & Lang, Australia's largest specialists in the sale of pre-owned Rolls-Royce & Bentley Motor Cars situated in Melbourne, have listed it for sale.

It is a 1989 example with VIN SCBZDOOA3KCH29136 which lets just say, makes it highly desirable.

Being a 1989 example makes it part of the 20000 series, which is known as the facelift model.

It's the best year, as this car has fuel injection and ABS brakes. As it is not the 1990 model, it does not have the hard to repair active ride suspension which is a bonus.

Also, as it is post 1988, you are unable to import this car into Australia due to the restrictions of the car import legislation.

It is actually the only 1989 Bentley Continental in Australia, and probably will be for a while. The only other option is if a person has been living outside of Australia and has owned the car for more than one year and then moves to Australia with the correct visa, will there be another 1989 Bentley Continental downunder. Unless the law changes of course, but seek legal advice as always.

It has done 62,232 kms and is described by Ekberg & Lang, as a 'Once in a blue moon opportunity' and is in 'Superb condition throughout and impeccably maintained' where it is 'Probably the most collectable of the recent model Bentleys and stylish in any company.'

I would have to agree.

It has a asking price if $169,777 which is reasonable considering the desirability and availability of a 1989 Bentley Continental in Australia.

More pictures and details of this car can be seen at Ekberg & Lang here.

Now if anyone ever finds a Turbo version of this car, please be in touch. Buyer waiting.

Bentley Arnage T Le Mans Mulliner

I do like it when people go all out and get what they want.

When you go to Bentley Mulliner you certainly can customise the details.

Without any respect for subtly.

Take a look at this Bentley Arnage T Le Mans Mulliner.

The photo quality is rubbish, but have you noticed the colour?

This is a two tone blue. Squint, that is a darker blue on the bumpers, grill surround and sides.

I quite like it. The Union Jack is on all Le Mans Arnages, as is the wing vent. Sure all Bentleys come with coloured brake callipers.

Now this is where Bentley Mulliner really comes into its own. At the owners request, the answer should be yes.

How good is this interior. It's just great.

I want this piece that colour and that piece this.

I want a machine turned alloy dashboard, but I want a wooden centre console.

I want the Bentley logo on the upper seat back. I want the Bentley logo on the head rest.

But that would mean that they are repeated? I don't care, that's what I want.

The colour combo is quite stunning.

Absolutely no consideration of resale value required in this Bentley Mulliner order!

I totally would have it!

For sale for £69,995 here.

Thanks Nigel for sending in the link.

Bentley Turbo RT Mulliner in China

Well the HKSAR of China to be precise.

With all the duck, chicken, pork, beef combination special fried rice features. And some special meat from Shenzhen SAR if you know what I mean.

Bentley Turbo RT Mulliner 'AT 1668'

Its got bonet scoops, wing vents, fog lamps, chrome front lamp surrounds, chrome grill surround, matrix grill, 17" 5 spoke wheels, Mulliner flaired wheel arches, side skirts and HKSAR specific front windscreen mounted stickers to get you into both the country club and the golf club. The country club probably has a golf club, so maybe the last bit I made up.

It is such a cool car. It just needs race spots like the brochure.

Bentley Turbo RT Mulliner

And maybe chrome wing mirrors to have the lot.

Here is another view of the car spotted by Flickr user Daryl Chapman.

Bentley Turbo RT Mulliner

Not quite sure if this car has a small rear window, but I hope it does.

I also want it to have a back seat mounted speedo like SCBZP26CWCH66731 here.

Or SCBZP25COWCX66743 here if you prefer a darker wood.

Or maybe it is even turned aluminium like this one here.

Fingers crossed!

Practical Yellow Bentleys

Let's just say that this is a quite unique collection of Bentley motor cars in yellow.

Let's take a first glance at this magnificant Bentley Continental. It is amazing.

Bentley Continental

It you want a more practical car than a Bentley Continental by Mulliner Park Ward, get a station wagon or estate made for you.

Or even a Bentley van. Go on.

Bentley T

Something more standard? Go a yellow Bentley Turbo R. This is a 1987 model, that was for sale a couple of years ago. I really like it.

1987 Bentley Turbo R in Stunning Sunburst Yellow - BENTLEY SPOTTING

If you really prefer open top motoring, in a Bentley Turbo R, you still can. The solution? Get one made for you. This one is by Salvatore Diomante.

Bentley Turbo R Convertible by Salvatore Diomante

And again, want something more practical in the Bentley Turbo R format? Go a station wagon for the Ikea runs. It does work well. This one is a Bentley Val d'Isere by Jankel.

Bentley Val d'Isere by Jankel for Sultan of Brunei

Perfer a two door? How about a Bentley Continental R. This example is from the Personal Commission series. Looks rather nice doesn't it.

Bentley Continental R Personal Commission

If you want the drop head coupe variety, go for the Bentley Azure. It's even got a for sale sticker on it for you.

Bentley Azure

Still not convinced that the Bentley Continental R or Azure is for you? Well then call up a coachbuilder and get something else made to how you see fit. Pinniafarina did this one for the Royal Family of Brunei. It is called the Bentley B3.

Bentley B3 by Pininfarina for Sultan of Brunei

Live on a farm? Care for a Toorak tractor? Bentley along with the help of Land Rover made this Bentley Dominator also for the Royal Family of Brunei.

Bentley Dominator by Land Rover for Sultan of Brunei

See, yellow is certainly a very good colour for a great range of practical Bentley cars.

Go on, get one made for yourself. Make it yellow.

PS.

If you must, go get yourself a Bentley Continental Supersport.

Bentley Continental Supersport

Can't find a new Bentley Mulsanne in yellow yet. Send one in if you have photos!

Bentley Continental Estate Car for Brunei

This is a special order vehicle for the Royal Family of Brunei, part of their amazing collection of vehicles, semi-explained via The Sultan of Brunei Darussalam's Different Bentleys and The Sultan of Brunei Darussalam's Different Rolls Royces.

Some new renderings of the car have popped up.

The renderings come from the portfolio of the designer, Steve Harper, who drew there rendering in 1992 for the Mulliner Park Ward Division of Rolls Royce and Bentley.

It shows the details of the lock up compartments to the rear.

They also reviel that the rear window opens seperately to that of the whole tailgate.

This is quite a handy feature for an estate car.

here is a very rare photo of the car.

I'll take one!

Is this not the best modern four door Bentley?

Bentley Turbo RT

I love it.

Mulliner Park Ward in Hong Kong

Paul was doing a bit of shopping at the Pacific Place Shopping Mall in Hong Kong on the weekend.

Now this car was parked below.

Yep, it is a very late say 1996 to 1998 factory stretched Rolls Royce Silver Spur LWB Mulliner Park Ward. Number plate 599. Nice.

The last time this exact model was seen in Hong Kong, it was burning up. Literally. That was number plate 4. Which sounds like death doesn't it?

Thank you to Paul for sending in the photo.

Bentley Turbo RT Mulliner in Red

We have seen a beautiful British Racing Green Bentley Turbo RT Mulliner before here, and here, and also an all white one, and now it's time for a red one.

In Carmine Red to be exact. It is a 1998 model with 39745 kms on the clock.

It has a nice wooden, not turned aluminium as was an option dashboard. Other options can be seen in the renderings of the Bentley Turbo RT Mulliner done by Darren Day the styling engineer.

Now have look where it is housed! It is a beautiful garage! The painting are very nice, and so it the late model Corniche/Continental next to it.

From the front it has all the options you want. Bonnet vents, side vents, and colour coding.

It is a beautiful car being only on of 55/56 ever made.

This car is currently for sale in Calgary, Canada of $60,000.00 here.
