Ghostly Nights

So, its not a Ghost, or Silver Ghost...

But these photos of a wonderful Corniche Saloon, speeding through the Tokyo night, have a somewhat ghostly feel to them.

Here's hoping your New Year's Eve is free from spooks and demons.

Best wishes for 2016 from Team Bentley Spotting!

Bentley Bentayga 2016 بنتلي بينتايجا

Here is a review of the Bentley Bentayga.

In Arabic. I think this car will be very popular in the Middle East.

Not only in the Middle East. But the East. And the Far East. And Downunder. And the West. And Africa. But not in Antarctica.

Bentley Val d'Isere by Jankel for sale

This is a rare car for sale.

A Bentley Val d'Isere 4x4 by Robert Jankel design.

Yes, it is an estate or station wagon of what I think is the best designed estate from any coachbuilder.

What is unusual is that this car is based on a 1994 Brooklands, not a Turbo R.

It was vastly expensive to convert this car to an estate - so the question arises of why not spend the extra GBP15000 and get the better Turbo R, not the Brooklands?

However it is a pretty cool thing to have.

It's on Saudi Arabian plates, currently in Marbella and has traveled only 416 km.

That seems like Jankel delivery miles to me. Seems like a holiday car to go shopping in.

It's for sale with an asking price of £109350 here.

More info about the Bentley Val d'Isere is here.

Thanks Stewart for the tip.

Where Are They Now? Part 1...

A few months back in September, Team Bentley Spotting posted a Frank Dale & Stepsons stocklist. It dated from 1985 and included a lot of very nice motor cars, some at (what now) seem very attactive prices.

Now we have managed to obtain some Frank Dale & Stepson stock photos. These seem to date from slightly later than the stocklist posted earlier, when Frank Dale & Stepsons were operating from King Street in Hammersmith, and including a few later cars:

Does anyone recognize any of these cars? Did anyone buy one of these cars?! Where are they now?!!

More photos to come soon...

Silver Jubilee

September 2015 saw Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II become the UK's longest reigning monarch, exceeding the reign of Queen Victoria, her great-great grandmother.

To mark the occasion, The Queen and Prince Philip traveled through Scotland from Edinburgh to Tweedbank by steam train, while in London, a flotila of historic leisure cruisers and passenger boats took part in a procession along the River Thames.

So why is this of interest to Bentley Spotting readers? Well, in addition to The Queen's official Bentley limousine, there is a tenuous link to May 1977, when to commemerate the 25th anniversary of The Queen's accession to the throne, a procession of vintage cars was arranged at Windsor Castle.

Promiment among the parade were a variety of vintage Rolls-Royce motor cars. Here are some photos:
The spectator's attire is so "1970s" - flared cords seem to have been de rigueur - but what a fantastic collection of cars, and what a seemingly great day out!

Building a Dream

A few photos of Silver Shadow (SY series)  production at Crewe and MPW London over the years to celebrate the car's 50th anniversary (or birthday?)
This was a very important car for the company back then.
Not to be ignored.

I'm sure the lads (and Ladies)  were happy as they left work every day knowing they had built something very special.

This is the last car off the line. A Silver Wraith II actually. (In other words a series II Shadow LWB)

Makes me feel proud.
Although there are critics of this series of car, it was a very significant model that brought Rolls-Royce and Bentley into the modern car era.
