Bentley Racing Pit Stop in 1929

Well Bentley Motors is back into racing this month with the Continental GT3.

Let's take a look back. Here is Benjafield coming into the pits in his Bentley during a race in Belfast in 1929.

Certainly less safety, but interesting that the unions still get involved!

W.O. Bentley with his 8 Litre

Here is a little bit sombre picture of W.O. Bentley with his old 8 Litre Bentley.

This was his car, that he had a give back to Rolls-Royce when he left Bentley.

This photo was taken at a Bentley Drivers Club event where he was reunited with his old 8 Litre for this photo.

Bentley Motors now owns this car, and often takes it out for public displays.

Experimental Rolls-Royce's

Here are a couple of experimental Rolls-Royce's at the Derby factory.

The first is RC2406 (#31EX) Park Ward Limousine, scrapped after an accident in 1935.

Then there is RC2545 (#32EX) Phantom III Park Ward Saloon, currently located in Australia with same owner since 1965.

In the back #30EX, the first Phantom III (codename Spectre) Park Ward Limousine, scrapped in 1939.

Brooklands

Check out this period video of some racing at Brooklands.

So you want to buy one hey? A single seater Bentley Brooklands racer?

How about Sir Henry 'Tim' Birkin 1929-32 Bentley 4½-Litre Supercharged Single-Seater here?

Remember, this one is going to be for sale at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in Chichester, Sussex on the 29 June 2012.

More information about the sale here.

Thanks for Bill for sending in the photo of the car that was recently in New York.

Bentley Drivers Club Western Region Spanish Tour 2010

I do like it when I stumble across videos like this one.

It is well worth watching the entire video just for the credits, as it lists every car shown and also lists the music!

Thanks Roger for sharing.

Bentleys Bush Bashing

The Vintage Sports-Car Club does put on some fun shows.

Get yourself a vintage Bentley, get your self a hill and go for it.

It is a bit mad, and I like it.

I love the team work to get traction!

Certainly looks fun.

However, I do not think I will do this with my Turbo R just yet.

The Bentley Drivers Club Tour the Factory at Crewe

The Bentley Drivers Club 'Britain by Bentley' Tour 2011 started off on the 4 June and is set to conclude on the 4 July. The tour met at the Savoy, where they were greeted by Old Number 8.

The Press Release from the start of the tour from the Bentley Drivers Club is here.

Then the tour was off to explore Britain by Bentley.

The tour consisted of a variety of Bentleys, from 1924 3-litre vintage models through a 2009 Brooklands.

The tour is in fact still on going, and is in its final week.

It looks like people are enjoying themselves.

At about the half way mark, the tour went to Crewe to explore the Factory.

The classic tour group photo shot. Memories.

Now taking a look around the Factory.

This photo setting is generally reserved for the newest members of the Bentley family, and it is quite nice to see the ancestors turn up for some family portraits.

Gday to all the Aussies on the trip.

It is good to see a Victorian car.

As well as one from New South Wales.

Send in photos of the trip if you like.

Here is a video of the pip stop at Crewe, produced by Bentley Motors.

Take care drivers!

Not the cars you really expect on Rodeo Dr.

But very cool though.

I certainly would have caused a stir!

Rolls-Royce on Safari

This is not quite a period photo, but a recreation.

It really does set the scene through.

Guns, leather trunks, Safari hats and exotic animals to hunt.

Rolls-Royce on Safari - BENTLEY SPOTTING

All is an appropriately bodied estate or station wagon Rolls-Royce made of wood and aluminium.

Very nice.

George Daniel's Bentleys

This is a little like listening to your grandfather waffle on, but in it fun.

Take a watch (this is a pun).

Here is a video of what could be this codger's old 1924 Bentley 3L Landaulet.

And this is the car he bought, with previous owner Tom Birkin at the Brooklands Racetrack.

And here is George Daniel driving the car at Goodwood.

Now a couple more of the car in detail.

Bentley in a Ferrari suit

It's a good one!

Click on the image above, then click the magnifying button, and then zoom in.

The detail is quite cool. Like the odd tyres up front.

If anyone wants the photo in high resolution to say, print a poster for their garage just email at bentleyspotting@gmail.com

1924 Bentley 3L Landaulet

I do really like this car.

It is a 3 litre that is not British racing green nor a Le Mans replica!

Long live the Park-Ward body.

Hopefully it always stays that way.
