So I had a Matchbox model of a red Silver Shadow when I was thirteen...
And I finally got the real thing many years later.
But I also had the Bburago 22nd scale Rolls-Royce Camargue in silver.
I adored that toy car. One day in 1980 I saw this car on the streets of London - yes, it's the famous 'JET5' registered Camargue
.
So once I got home I got out the screwdriver, masking tape and paint. Tan for the interior and red for the exterior.
I still have that resprayed model:
And again have seen a similar car in real life -Full Size....
This car at the Louisville meet:
Exactly the same colour combination as my 22nd scale Bburago -okay , except the dash top roll...
I took a lot of photos of this car.
How could I not?
This one got my 'Gentlemen's Choice' vote.
This one's a bit like your wife meeting your mistress:
There was a nice white one there too, which I also liked but the red one is just the way I want it.
These cars are so 'seventies'. And remember, in their day they were the most expensive production car in the world. As impressive (back then) as today's Bugatti Veyron.
Some people find that hard to believe - not me.
