Vietnam in 80 breakdowns

Okay, you've decided to drive from England to Vietnam….

Over 8,000 miles (11,800kms) through Europe, Central Asia and China on roads ranging from motorways to single lane sand tracks:

So which car would be best for the trip?

Land Rover Defender? Mercedes G-Wagen? Toyota Landcruiser? 4WD for sure?

Not if you're "Brummy" of the "80breakdowns crew". His choice of transport? A 1977 Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow II…I like his style!

Here it is before the trip:

In Austria:

And with another UK registered Silver Shadow II in Moldova (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moldova):

On route repairs:

And dirt tracks:

Great trip guys!

Clear lenses and all...

Then a modern (yet, early) GT :

Then a couple of newer Goodwood Ghosts:

Nice colour here:

And this lovely Silver Shadow II:

Oh, I've just gotta go to London....

Thanks Ken.

Beauty Rings

Yeah, it's an odd term. But it's what those coloured and pinstriped (well, they should be..) trim rings on Rolls-Royce and Bentley wheel covers are referred to.

Most often simply the body colour or the side colour of the car if it's two tone.

Red car, red beauty rings...

Green car...

Green rings.

Two tone car:

And so on...

But here's an interesting one on Ebay:

Chrome rings with body colour pinstriping.

It works.

Another one of Parkward Motors'  Rodd Sala's nice Silver Shadows.

Drive By Shooting

Our newest Bentleyspotter friend Brian in Belfast, Northern Ireland shot this one especially for us.

A GTC in Belfast. A convertible in Belfast. I'm sure the roof is rarely down.

Thanks Brian, we need more Belfast RR & B shots like I did years ago.
But what happened to the 'Benz in front?

Here's an old one of mine from 1980 just off the Lisburn Road to set the tone:

Just cool! Thanks Tim for sharing.

Vorsteiner Ghost

Vorsteiner.

Rolls-Royce and Bentley mods.
Here's their Ghost modification.

Quite subtle.

Nice...

I'd do it to a Ghost if I had one.

There's one on Ebay with a bit more:

2010 Rolls-Royce Ghost VORSTEINER in Costa Mesa, California

2010 Rolls-Royce Ghost VORSTEINER in Costa Mesa, California

2010 Rolls-Royce Ghost VORSTEINER in Costa Mesa, California

Verrry coool...

A boot lid spoiler on a Rolls-Royce?

2010 Rolls-Royce Ghost VORSTEINER in Costa Mesa, California

It works.

2010 Rolls-Royce Ghost VORSTEINER in Costa Mesa, California

It may ride horribly on the 24 inchers, but does look good...
