Night Terror

Okay. so it's just the Rolls-Royce aero engine facility in Montreal.

But as one inches along in bumper to bumper traffic on Montreal's Autoroute 15, one cannot help but stare at the wonderful sign on the building.

The phrase "Pride of Britain, Envy of the World" always comes to mind.

 

At night, it's another story:

The famous RR logo becomes a faintly flickering glow , followed by the words "Roi s R yc ".

Surely somebody has a really long ladder somewhere, and maybe the sense to change all the flourescent bulbs at the same time.

I want to laugh, but actually it's quite disgraceful...

New Bentley Continental GT Spied

Auto Express do do an amazing job at taking spy photos upcoming cars.

New Bentley's are not exception.

Lets take a look.



Yes, in the distance is what looks from afar like a Bentley Continental GT.

Well it is, but it's the new one.



Here is the car again photos by Auto Express of the car up close.



Yes, it is wearing nice chequered flag camouflage.



To try and kind of confuse you in what the car looks like. Take a look at the front lights.



But some how the shape of the Bentley Continental GT does look quite familiar.



It has as expected revised from and rear bumpers.



And also has Mulsanne style front LED lights, with Super Sport rear lights.



And here is a photo of the car unclothed. Again by Auto Express.

You can really tell now that the front fender lines have been changes, along with the rear. Also there is a more upright grille, and even indicator lights on the rear view mirrors.



The wheels are new as well. It is expected to be announced at the Paris Motor Show in October.

Bentley R-Type D.H.C. by Graber

The Tokyo Concours d'Elegance was held very recently, and a number of Bentleys here present.

Let's take a look at a previous concours this time in 2007 when a Bentley R-Type D.H.C. by Graber turned up.



Not a car you see everyday!

The First Body.

Now this photo is a little special.



It is the boys at Mulliner Park Ward making the first ever 2 door salon body for the Silver Shadow/Bentley T.

The drawings and plans hang around the room.

Here is an example of some on the dimensions of the Mulliner Park Ward.



I don't think too many spare bodies will be hanging around now.

Everyone's A Winner

The RROC national meet in Toronto has come to an end. (So will my regular daily posts, shortly)

Two hard workers I caught in my earlier post "It's In The Details" won awards.

First place, 'Touring, Engine Covered' category - A beautiful green Turbo R from Massachussetts.



Third place of the 'Touring, Engine Covered' went to the Bentley Brooklands Trophy edition that was written about here.



Second place 'Touring, Silver Shadow/T Bentley' -A very, very nice RHD chrome bumper two tone blue and Everflex series one Silver Shadow, from Ontario.



And by the way, did I mention that the new old guy in the red Shadow got third in that class?



First place 'Concours, Engine Covered' was the black Continental R shown in the 'Bentleypolishing' video.



Second place Silver Ghost was the blue 1913 I posted engine shots of earlier in the month.



Here it is driving by.



Third place in 'Concours, Spirits, Spurs' was the dark blue Silver Spirit I also posted a shots of a few weeks ago.



One may think this whole thing is 'fixed'. Not so, just a lot of categories and a lot of hard work.

I'm just patting myself on the back because I can...Some of the other cars will be shown at a later date.

Congratulations to everyone.

The meet was fantastic (even though it did rain at the end for the rest of the day- that's what chamois, hoses, towels and elbow grease are for). The whole week was a wonderful experience.

The 2010 RROC National meet in Toronto Concours finale.

The Dreaded Concours field.

Frightening to some. Kinda like getting your M.O.T. done in a field.



Instead of hearing the dreaded "Sir, step out of the car with your hands on your head...", they say nice things like "Sir, please take out the lambswool overlays", "Sir, please open the bonnet and start the engine", "Sir, please show me the fusebox", "Sir, are the owner's manualls in the car?", "Sir, please operate all the lights" and the dreaded "Sir, please lower and raise all the windows"....Mine went down okay, but only the driver's one managed to get back up without assistance.



Some old guy on his first ever Concours not knowing what to expect actually got third place in the Silver Shadow/T touring class.he was quite chuffed, to put it mildly.



It was a great meet. Lots of fantastic people there who made it a very, very memorable occasion.
Same time next year, perhaps, possibly, maybe...?

It's in the details....

Everyone does like to win a prize, so today at the RROC Nation Meet in Toronto was a busy one.



Take a look at all the busy work.



Look at them all. Very busy busy.



Busy taking their minds off the day to day and recieving pleasures of pride, achievement, self accomplishment and a touch of showing off.



Showing off literally, by polishing their things, and well, putting them on show.



That's right, it is the day before the Concours here at the RROC Nation Meet in Toronto.



So a lot of people spent a lot of time cleaning every part of their Rolls-Royces and Bentleys so that they hopefully one day, that day being tomorrow, they become prized Rolls-Royces and Bentleys, as in they win a prize!



Chamois, polishing cloths, waxes, window cleaner, buffers, brushes, dusters and lamps galore!



And of course, good old elbow grease, dirty fingernails and dirty backs.





They were all thoroughly enjoying themselves striving for the best car in their class.





It's quite the sight!







The best of luck to them all - they've worked incredibly hard.

Bentley Brooklands Trophy

This is an interesting Bentley Limited Edition.



It's a 1997 Bentley Brooklands Trophy, number 6 of 28 worldwide.



It was produced to commemorate 75 years of racing heritage, with reference to the Bentley Boys and the early days of the 24 Hours of Le Mans.



However the name Trophy refers to the famous RAC Tourist Trophy races in which Charles Rolls won the race in 1906 in his Rolls-Royce 20 hp.

A Bentley 3½-Litre and later 4¼-Litre driven by E.R. Hall raced in the RAC Tourist Trophy (TT) in Ulster in 1934, 1935 and 1936.



This particular car has a beautiful Black Garnet Mica exterior finish which is also carried over to the headlamp trims and grille vents.



The body is accented by triple thin wildberry waistlines.



It also boasts a full two tone black/wildberry interior, leather headliner with rear individual rear seats.





It also features a vertical surface (or curved) door waistrail veneers with single crossbands in the base, with Rolls-Royce style wood veneer trimmed vanity mirrors inside the C-pillars.







The final icing on the cake is that all the exterior emblems are in British Racing Green.





It also has special plaque on both front door sills.



This is not your 'average' turbocharged Bentley- a very unique vehicle of which the owner must be very proud...

Yet another vehicle spotted at the RROC National meet in Toronto!
