Bentley Bespoke Pop-up with NYCxDesign

For the past 12 day there has been the New York City’s official citywide celebration of design called NYCxDESIGN.

And Bentley Motors USA got involved.

There are the social media reactions.

And what where all these people doing at the pop up studio?

They were going through Bentley's The Visionary Experience.

"The Visionary Experience is a limited-time engagement that elevates commissioning a Bentley to a new level by tapping into your inspirations. An innovative blend of art and technology, the Experience will inspire a Bentley more bespoke than you ever imagined."

Here it is explained in a video.

From your picture selections it gives two outputs.

A Lifestyle Matrix.

And Colour Trends.

Pretty cool way to assist in inspiration.

Here is a link to the example.

Rolls-Royce Phantom Surfing with Alec Monopoly

I like street art.

Especially when it's well developed.

These are from Alec Monopoly.

But he also likes to have a bit of fun as well.

Now here is a new fad. Phantom Surfing.

Press play.

I encourage it.

Bentley Turbo RT Mulliner

I am a huge fan of the Bentley Turbo RT Mulliner.

It's the swan song of the Turbo R where 50 examples were made and were all commissioned, so are all different.

Here are some of the options from the brochure.

Yes, the Race number spot is a must.

When I was in the UK last year, a very cool owner invited me around to check out one in his garage.

Here it is. I love the smooth bumper bars.

Follow me on Instagram http://instagram.com/bentleyspotting by the way - I upload one picture daily of cars I've spotted.

It was special to see one of 17 right hand drive cars in the flesh. Thanks to you know who.

So you want one?

Well one is for sale by RR&B Garages for £49,950.

Notice the lights have been changed to clear indicators from the original amber.

I think with this colour it looks good. Not the first Turbo RT Mulliner to do this also.

I always like looking at RT Mulliner cars as you never know what options were commissioned.

But the red start button at the centre of the dash is a must.

Straight away you can tell this is a more traditional spec car.

Would you like a speedo mounted in the rear so the back seat can see how fast you are going? On no!

Walnut please, not that brash turned alloy dash that the young kids like.

But I'll have the maximum power please.

And put those upgraded brakes in as well. Safer.

What I really like is the front and rear bumper bars and those side skirts.

They would look great on my car with a race number spot!

Something interesting about the ad that I did not know was that of the 50 Bentley Turbo RT Mulliner cars made and of the 17 right hand drive cars - only only 7 of these cars were registered in the UK.

That means that 10 right hand drive cars are out there in Hong Kong, Japan, South East Asia, South Africa and maybe even Australia.

I'm hoping Australia, as they are not able to be imported second hand and it give me ever so slight hope that one could be in Australia which I want to buy!

But I doubt it. My guess is most of the 10 are in the Sultan of Brunei's garages.

Pointless Project

Check out this Ebay find a few months ago.

See the value in it? Not much really hey. Or is there?

Okay, so could you buy this and stick a good old 6.75 litre V8 into it.

Maybe add twin turbos.

Give it a new interior and call it a Throwback.

How the heck did this Continental GT end up like this?

There is certainly more to the story. And hidden value.

This is a moneypit project if you try to restore or make it into Bentley Special.

But here is the value in this bucket of bits.

The VIN. And a "clean title".

So say if someone you met in the pub accidentally sent you a Bentley GT from Eastern Europe, or one fell off the back of the truck and landed in your chop shot this ebay offering could have value to you.

Certainly not the best practice.

Here is the text from the ad.

"Could be re-built or used for parts. It has a clean title. Priced to sell. Includes both doors in good shape. The second door has some protective plastic wrap on it as seen in the picture. You could find a roll over crashed one with nice interior and combine it with this nicer body. Silver paint."

Yeah mate, let's combine a "crash" with this "nicer" body.

And it's got silver paint.

54 Rolls-Royces Get On A Boat

It sounds like the first line of a bad joke.

54 Rolls-Royces get on a boat.

What happens?

Watch it here from Spodsbjerg, Denmark.

Bentley Friday Fact

This is interesting.

This was then.

Still big. Still fast. Still Bentley.

I'll be watching the race on Sunday.

Crewe in the year 2000

What ingredients go into the Rolls-Royce Silver Seraph?

What this report from Crewe in I think from 2000 - by the clear indicators on the cars.

I did like the rear of the Continental R line.

Bentley SUV Spy Shots

Take a look at these photos from autoevolution.

The VAG group is trying to make you think it's the test mule car for the next gen Audi Q7, but it's not.

The new Q7 is way past test mule stage and has been spotted in camo all finished.

With it's UK number plate and right hand drive, this ladies and gentlemen, is the test mule for the upcoming Bentley SUV.

It will share the same platform as the Lamborghini Urus, Porsche Cayenne and the Q7.

It will also feature a hybrid drivetrain.

You can tell those big vents are common to the Bentley GT range.

Here is the first official image of the 2016 Bentley SUV, kicking up fake dust.

But it is not the first Bentley SUV.

The Special Projects division has made Project 800 the Bentley Dominator 4x4 for the Royal Family of Brunei in the 1990s. More on that car here.

Official #Bentley Racing Transporter Spotting is Go

Good luck to all the Bentley Boys.

Rolls Royce Enthusiasts Club Rally 1994

Got a spare hour?

The voice over is pretty funny.

It's the Rolls Royce Enthusiasts Club Rally of 1994

Thanks Don for the link.

Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow Mk II Claustrophobic Solution

Lets just say you suffer from claustrophobia.

Your tolerance is that you need 4 foot of space in front of your head and 4 foot of space behind your head.

What is your transport solution?

Well this Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow Mk II of course.

Remove the front seat and have the rear window moved back 4 feet.

That will do it.

I actually have no idea why this car exists or for what purpose. Anyone know?

Natural Habitat

Launched in 2003, the Rolls-Royce Phantom has been critised by many as being too big, too brash and too ostentatious.

It's hard to argue that these critisms don't have some merit.

But I recently rediscovered this photo I took in Monaco several years ago:

And I think it looks good....

Very suited to its natural habitat.

Arrr Just Saw A Ghost

Yeah I did.

I just saw a ghost.

More photos tonight.

Actually, depends on now many cocktails I say yes to!

First Pit Stop

Well I pushed through Sydney and pulled in for a break.

Had driven 383kms.

So I filled up.

And put in 54L.

I think my fuel consumption has been great.

Nature rest then I'm on my way.

Driving driving to the RROCA Rally

Filled up.

Gadgets on.

Just are 50kms of highway.

400km to go.

THE 56TH FEDERAL RALLY OF THE ROLLS-ROYCE OWNERS’ CLUB OF AUSTRALIA, HUNTER VALLEY, NSW 2014

I don't like packing. I'm currently staring at all these clothes that should be in a bag, but are not.

I'm just tempted to through them in the backseat on the Bentley and motor up to the Hunter Valley for the RROCA Federal Rally.

Well I'll be driving up tomorrow for a four day weekend. The Rally actually started yesterday.

And guess what - here are some pictures.

They do look nice.

I suspect cars will be coming from all Australian States and Territories.

Looks like a good variety of cars already.

Breakfast this morning was accompanied by 6 Ghosts, 2 x 20/25 hp and a Phantom.

Certainly a nice sight to look at whilst you eat your crumpets.

Thanks so much to Brian for the great photography. I look forward to meeting you.
