Pointless Project

Check out this Ebay find a few months ago.

See the value in it? Not much really hey. Or is there?

Okay, so could you buy this and stick a good old 6.75 litre V8 into it.

Maybe add twin turbos.

Give it a new interior and call it a Throwback.

How the heck did this Continental GT end up like this?

There is certainly more to the story. And hidden value.

This is a moneypit project if you try to restore or make it into Bentley Special.

But here is the value in this bucket of bits.

The VIN. And a "clean title".

So say if someone you met in the pub accidentally sent you a Bentley GT from Eastern Europe, or one fell off the back of the truck and landed in your chop shot this ebay offering could have value to you.

Certainly not the best practice.

Here is the text from the ad.

"Could be re-built or used for parts. It has a clean title. Priced to sell. Includes both doors in good shape. The second door has some protective plastic wrap on it as seen in the picture. You could find a roll over crashed one with nice interior and combine it with this nicer body. Silver paint."

Yeah mate, let's combine a "crash" with this "nicer" body.

And it's got silver paint.

The seller is basically offering the VIN number for sale. Given that anyone buying the VIN is likely to be using it for questionable purposes, it is offered as a "project car". Potential for lots of shenanigans.
