"Get the FHC Out of My Way..."

Or maybe "Excuse me, would you kindly get your Brooklands out of my way, please..."
That one doesn't really work, though.

A debate. Who's passing who? Inside or outside?

What a great Shot!

Bentley Motors Snow Videos

Bentley Motors has released a couple of videos about snow.

The first really did not overly appeal to me, but was well produced.

I just kept on thinking, does skiing all day really enable you to accumulative enough wealth to purchase a Bentley Continental GTC?

I think I'm missing something here.

Skiing is like driving a car? OK, but I though they were meant to be selling Bentley cars in this video, not just any car.

These guys to me just do not seem like Bentley drivers, more like standard snow bunnies.

I've been much more impressed with the director Austin Reza's other work for Bentley, especially with the introduction of dub step music, and I like the style he is introducing to Bentley marketing.

The next video is cooler, but not that well produced.

I quite like the Bentley flying suit and the Bentley parachute idea.

But come on, a cock rock sound track? What are they selling 1990s cars here?

I'm not quite sure if this meets the Bentley Motors video production standards. Should have got Austin Reza to do it.

Just compare that video to this proper quality video from Bentley, where Mario Grigorow was commissioned to compose "Bentley Suite Part I" for the video.

It's beautiful, and proper Bentley quality. Certainly not 1990s cock rock!

If you want to get something from the ads, how about this £20.00 Bentley beanie.

Get the Beanie from Bentley Motors here.

Even though it looks like a Chinese knock off, it's not.

FHC in PB,E.

So if you can have one of these, you should at least make it different from all the others.

Most of the FHC Phantoms we see are black.

"Watch the scooter, please..."

Still very impressive, but red and black can make a bigger statement.

Who needs shoes to do that...?

Here's a fine example of Being Different and Standing Out in Puerto Banus, Spain.
A UK registered LHD FHC RR in, well, burgundy and black.
Enough of the acronyms, please....

Someone dared to be different.

Although it has been done years before - but not to the same effect. Here's one from 102 years ago:

Two tone Brooklands

This is a striking colour combination.

Apparently it was delivered in solid black, and the second owner changed it into a two tone.

Certainly a stand out!

B1 ART Rolls-Royce Camargue

Add an Italian sculptor, three people of mixed gender and an erotic pose?

Or is it a photo of a male English engine, mounting a male English chassis, enveloped in a female Italian body?

There is a possibility you will end up with BI ART.

Rolls-Royce Camargue

Nice one Camargue.

Crisis? What Crisis?

Okay, so that Supertramp album was from 1975..
But what an appropriate quote.

The year in question was 1971.
Rolls-Royce had gone into bankruptcy.

This is what caused it.

The RB211 aircraft engine - over budget, over promising and over extending the workforce.
Oh, and you don't use titanium instead of Hyfil for the blades...
(Read The Kidnap of the Flying Lady by Richard Feast - an eye opener.)

But shortly afterwards, the new Motor Car Division distracted the world by introducing the new 'Corniche'. More than just an updated Mulliner Park Ward Silver Shadow 2 door 'Sports Saloon'.
Rolls-Royce's car division was still alive and well - hence the phrase, "Crisis? What Crisis...?"

But do take note that the name at the top of the press release says "E.R Nicholson, 'Receiver and Manager'. That didn't look too good...

Just a way to pretend to the world that nothing really happened.
It worked.

(Trivia: I have noticed the registration number 3500TU seems to be on most FHC RR press cars - 20TU on most DHCs...)

Here are my London and Toronto shots from a long time ago:

Everybody loved this car.

The last one rolled off the line in 1995. Twenty-nine years after the Silver Shadow was introduced.

Here's designer Bill Allen with that very last car.

He never could have guessed the car he was responsible for would be built for such a long time. That just doesn't happen any more.

(Posted by David Irvine - most Corniche shots are mine, except AH's blue car and the Bill Allen picture -RRMC)

Take a look at this car that drives by.

If you have had a few beers it looks like a Bentley Continental GTC SuperSport with aftermarket wheels.

But then you may have noticed that it has a bigger bum.

That's because it's not a Bentley, it's a Chrysler Sebring with some fibreglass added.

Let's take a look how it is fitted.

The measurements are probably not a precise as those taken as Crewe.

It however is quite intriguing.

I did smile that this gentleman's shop it called "Keeping it Real Customs". I'm pretty sure that is not a real Bentley.

Keeping it Fake Customs more like it.

And deep down, I like it that this guys is doing it, and has made quite a few from his videos.

The Incomparable

Bentley Spotting often features limousines by the English coachbuilders of Hooper & Co and Robert Jankel Design.

But here’s something from the other side of the Atlantic – an advertisement for “The Incomparable” Silver Spur Stretch Limousine by Coffman Coachworks of Clearwater, Florida.

It dates from 1983.

A full 47 inch stretch, with state of the art Sony Color TV, video recorder and am/fm quad stereo.

And don’t forget the electronically warmed seat cushions.

Unfortunately the Coffman Coachworks business appears to have been dissolved several years ago.

Does anyone know any more about them?
