Rally Prep Time

I'm packing for the Rolls-Royce Owners Club 56th Federal Rally.

I'll be driving 450kms - 280 miles tomorrow to the Hunter Valley in New South Wales, Australia.

But it's not the only tour that's happening.

The Bentley Boys are out in force on the Continent.

Looks beautiful.

They are on their way to the classic Mille Miglia rally.

That starts on the 15 May and Bentley has just announced that two of the company’s famous 4 ½ Litre supercharged ‘Blowers’ taking on the 1,700 km route.

I'll update bath rallys as they happen.

The First of The Last

From The Classifieds has been monitoring the ads for interesting cars while on vacation for the past few weeks.

And among them is the cars to draw attention is this 2000 Rolls-Royce Corniche Convertible, one of 374 cars and the last of the Crewe designed and built Rolls-Royce, being based on the Bentley Azure platform with the 6750cc, V8 with low pressure turbo motor:

It's being offered by Silverstone Auctions at "The May Sale" on 24th May at the Silverstone race circuit at a guide price of GBP 95,000-105,000.

What makes it particularly special is that it's chassis number #XCH68001 and the first of the series. It was originally owned by Rolls-Royce Motors and featured in marketing materials as well as many promotional events.

Here are a few pages from the Corniche brochure:

Its second owner purchased it from Michael Powles of Leicester in 2001 and it has a full service history, the last service in May 2013 by Hillier Hill, a respected marque specialist.

It has completed 24,926 miles, with less than 4,000 miles covered in the past six years.

Despite its low mileage, flickr user kenjonbro, Team Bentley Spotting's favourite car photographer, has snapped some great shots of it in use.

Here it is amongst the London traffic:

Not to be missed if you want to own the first of the last.

May the Fourth Be With You.

May the 4th.
Star Wars Day!

And 110 years ago today, Charles Rolls first met Henry Royce to discuss a proposed partnership.

At he Midland Hotel in Manchester.

The clubs still gather there to celebrate.

The rest is history.

The Cheapest 'New' Rolls-Royce...

Wow! A 'brand new' 1987 Silver Spirit on Ebay.

$65,000 will get you a car that should always win first in it's class at the RROC meets....

It is completely original. I know it and I have seen it.

2,800 kilometers, which is just 1,700 miles!

Flawless paint, flawless leather, flawless wood and it still smells brand new.

This is a total Time Warp car. I have never seen anything like it.

New competition for those in the SZ class of the RROC. Watch out lads...

Here she comes...!

Considerably less than a new Phantom....
