Bentley Turbo R with clear indicators on 20s

Now this example of a Bentley Turbo R looks very clean and tidy.

It is certainly all in the details and slight modifications.

Spotted in Monaco it is a left hand drive version with a slightly humorous UK registration.

From the front air damn or spoiler you can tell it is a post 1987 model.

The front grill vains have replaced with the Bentley Eight style mesh.

The Turbo R sports a full clear lens kit, where the orange indicators have been replaced with clear lens front and back.

But what is quite impressive are the custom 20" wheels on the car.

You certainly can not buy these off the shelf.

The offset of the Turbo R wheels is not very common, and to have after market alloys fitted, they either have large spacers with different bolt patters, or are custom machined.

These are custom machined wheels from the look of the bolt holes.

I like it.

I'm surprised that the bumper bars and the head lamp surrounds are not colour coded. It would not make that much of a difference.

Bentley Design 1928 - 2003

1928 Speed Six
1952 R-Type Continental
2003 Continental GT

And inversed.

Not much change between 2003 - 2011, as appropriate.

Bentley T Production Line at Crewe

Why not take a look at these.

Yep it is the Bentley T and Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow production line at Crewe.

Now the moment when it comes a car, the mating of the monocoque chassis to the undercarrages.

Not a robot in sight, just men to push the car around.

And these men do look like they know what they are doing.

Well thank you gentlemen.

New Bentley Continental GT V8

Take a look at this video.

Yep, the new Bentley Continental GT V8.

And for the Bentley Spotters - here is how Bentley Motors describes the difference between the W12 and the V8.

"The clues are there. The dark mesh radiator grille, ringed by bright metal. The aggressive lower bumper with its three air intakes. The dark rear valance, with its twin exhaust tailpipes shaped into an elongated, side-on figure eight.

And one further small, but significant detail: a red enamel Bentley winged ‘B’. These are the tell-tale signs of an all-new Bentley, powered by a 4.0 litre V8 engine.

From the distinctive backbeat of its eight cylinders at idling speed to the glorious snarl of full-throttle acceleration, the new V8 offers an exhilarating, involving and passionate route to Bentley Continental ownership.

All-wheel drive and an eight-speed transmission transmit its power to the road with unshakable precision. This is a Bentley that can both stir the soul or calm the spirit, according to the mood of the driver or the conditions."

I do like it.

But I have to say, the front spoiler does look like the Mansory body kit of 2009 here.

What do you think?

A 4L Bentley - I have images of the 1930s.

Until today.

Time Flies

Yesterday, tomorrow. Things change.
Here's what our cars at the Bentleyspotting Team have evolved to.
Just add a few extra zeros to the new cars' prices, though.
The Hooper 2 door of the eighties was factory approved so a Brooklands is a worthy comparison, the super saloon BentleyTurbo R is now the new Mulsanne and the 'entry level' model, the Silver Shadow from forty-odd years ago is now the Ghost.
We can also be thankful that the companies are still producing and selling cars.

Maybach is giving up. It just didn't work.

Want low profile luxury? (An oxymoron) Just buy an VW Phaeton W12....
But stick some Bentley alloys onto it to be different - they fit.

Bentley Turbo R Hearse

Take a look at this one!

Bentley Turbo R Hearse

Andy sent in the link with the one liner "fastest & most luxurious ride to the next life...."

Bentley Turbo R Hearse

Agree!

Bentley Turbo R Hearse

It is a 1990 model built by Coway.

Bentley Turbo R Hearse

The ad has this description "This five door design allows for a Funeral Director and four bearers to travel together with any coffin or casket up to American style size."

Bentley Turbo R Hearse

That sounds appropriate.

Bentley Turbo R Hearse

Did not expect to see a casket in the back though for this pictures.

Bentley Turbo R Hearse

I like it.

Bentley Turbo R Hearse

It has travelled 80k miles but 'virtually none since conversion'. I am glad people still make coachbuilt cars.

Bentley Turbo R Hearse

It is for sale where else but ebay here.

Bentley Turbo R Hearse

Not sure if any dead bodies are included.

Bahamas RR Spotting.

Here's a shot of a Silver Seraph taken today in the Bahamas by a friend of mine.

I find it amusing how often friends will take shots of Rolls-Royces and Bentleys they see whilst on vacation just for me.

But this is the first time it was sent right away from an iphone.

Right from here in fact.

Many thanks to Ray.

Modified

People do the damnedest things to cars.
Sometimes to RRs.
Maybe just a paint job or maybe they get out the sheetmetal, the cutters and the blowtorch.
Some interesting stuff out there - I did say 'some', but we all need a good laugh every once in a while.

The First but not the last.

I've just realised this:

My first Rolls-Royce model was a Matchbox (#24).

I still have it.

It cost me 20 pence (I think) back in 1974.

And my first real one thirty six years later was exactly the same colour - but cost considerably more.

Strange coincidence...

After #24 I got a gold coloured Corniche convertible model (still have that too).

I guess I need to find a real one now.

Maybe with wire Hooper wheels.
