Update Your Crewe Car

The 1990s Crewe cars had alloy wheels:

Not bad in their day, but not really beautiful...

How about these Arnage alloys fitted to a Turbo RL?

No, it's not a photoshop job. It's real. They are fitted with a special adaptor for newer alloys to fit older cars....

The adaptor is made from aircraft aluminium lathed to mil spec for perfect fit and balance. They are manufactured in 2 parts and bolted together. Each half, in essence, fits their respective old hub and new wheel. The thickness is predetermined so as to get the correct off set (how far in or out the wheel  sits in the wheel arch). The Arnage wheels are deep so it in further whereas the old turbo hub and wheels are shallow. So the the adaptor adds as a spacer for the wheel to sit in the right position and track. You also have to be careful that the wheels do not touch the fenders on turning.

It looks spectacular!

So from this:

To this:

This particular car is on Ebay :

Happy 39th!

I'd forgotten that my Old Thing was born during February 1975.

Happy Birthday to Her.

Looks like the guy who stamped the VIN plates back then celebrated all day, every day.

Anyway She's almost the same age as my wife now....

From The Classifieds

This week's From The Classifieds featured car is a 1978 Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow II being offered at Brightwells Classic Auction on 5th March in Leominster, UK.

First registered in February 1978, chassis #SRH3325 is finished in willow gold with a walnut brown painted roof...

And a parchment leather interior...

It has just two former owners and is described as having an "immpecable" Rolls-Royce service history comprising 18 stamps, the last nine at Broughtons of Cheltenham, an official appointed Bentley (and Crewe Rolls-Royce) service agent.

And it is said to drive beautifullywith just 54,247 miles recorded from new.

At a guide of just GBP 5,000-8,000 it seems ridiculously cheap.

These cars have got to start appreciating soon!
