Rolls-Royce & Bentley Day 2010

Just stumbled across video of the 2010 Rolls-Royce & Bentley Owners Club Japan's annual Rolls-Royce & Bentley Day at the historic Red Brick warehouses in Yokohama.

Otherwise known as ロールス・ロイス&ベントレーDAY2010.

Always is a good turnout.

This year's summary is here.

Rolls-Royce Silver Spur Turbo R by Hooper

It's always so hard when you want both and you have to make a decision. First world.

Do I want a Rolls-Royce or do I want a Bentley?

I really like how the Turbo R drives and it's power, but I like the look of the Rolls-Royce.

I can't make up my mind. I want both. Please. Thank-you.

This indecision would have cost a pretty penny. And would have been fun.

That's right, this is a special commission Rolls-Royce Silver Spur Turbo R by Hooper.

It's a Bentley Turbo R chassis and engine with all Rolls-Royce Silver Spur trim.

With Hooper additions of course like the small rear window and those chrome sills with colour coded bumpers.

How cool are the badges.

It's a Hooper Silver Spur Turbo R.

I really like how the 'R' is red, as it should be. That's detail.

It's currently for sale. Here is the dealer's video explaining more.

Buy it for £19,950 here.

I like how Hooper resolved the Bentley logos on the dials. Just paint over them.

Special car.

Here's around 1000 photos of Hooper cars.

Three Bentley Turbo R's

At the Terribly British Day 2013 car show my Bentley Turbo R was initially stationed next to a 1910 Silver Ghost.

Video of arrival here.

Bentley Turbo R

Yes, I still have my Le Mans 300km/h limited sticker and yellow wheels.

Then a Silver Cloud III and a 1987 Turbo R filled in the gap. That's a regulated drip tray underneath.

Bentley Turbo R

When the Cloud left, another Turbo R happened to be on hand to slot in.

Bentley Turbo R

We then popped the bonnets and had a good sticky beak. Three Turbo R's in CBR is a rare sight.

Bentley Turbo R

Looking over and over and over.

Mine is a 1989, the centre in a 1986 carbi model and the far is a 1987 injection.

Bentley Turbo R

They are all slightly different under there!

Bentley Turbo R

What I liked is that we all left at the same time.

Nice day.

Terribly British Day, Canberra 2013

Here is my entrance to the Terribly British Day 2013, a British car show held every year in Canberra, Australia.

Yep, I've still got my yellow wheels. To the video.

And I totally wore this shirt.

Top Gear 1996, Rolls-Royce Silver Spirit

Check out this Top Gear episode from 1996 where they review the Rolls-Royce Silver Spirit.

I am still trying to find Jeremy Clarkson's first ever Top Gear appearance, where he reviews the Bentley Turbo R 2 door by Hooper & Co. If anyone has it, please do let me know.

Driving Fun in a Rolls-Royce Silver Spirit II

here is a well produced video of a Rolls-Royce Silver Spirit II from 1990 being taken for a drive.

The car speaks for itself. There is no need for talking.

Bentley Turbo R Two Tone with Chrome

Take a look at this one.

Someone loves this car, cares about it and is not afraid to do things to it which are cool, but may not be standard, or actually add any value to the car, but are just cool.

But I really like it!

Clear indicators to start.

Bentley Turbo R two tone chrome

But the pièce de résistance is the two tone with the painted bonnet.

It is not what is expected on a Turbo R, which makes it so much better.

The flow from the painted grill surround is just great. Good idea to keep the bonnet centre strip.

Bentley Turbo R two tone chrome

Now from the side. Notice them?

Yep, chromed Bentley alloys. Deep down everyone knows that after market alloys on a Crewe car is not really right, so to keep the originals is the way to go.

The late 90s Crewe alloys are hard to fine, so the next best thing to do? Chrome them up baby!

Bentley Turbo R two tone chrome

They are cool. I have seen this on a Hooper car as well.

Bentley Turbo R two tone chrome

The clear indicators do match the chrome wheels.

Bentley Turbo R two tone chrome

The interior does look good. Ii is a 1991 car so think air bag steering wheel is standard, but if not, a nice to update to the interior.

Bentley Turbo R two tone chrome

There are proper facilities for picnics in the back seats.

Bentley Turbo R two tone chrome

Now to the rear.

Bentley Turbo R two tone chrome

Yep, that is a coloured insert on the lower rear bumper. Reminds me of the mesh from the Turbo RT Mulliner rear bumper bars. Like it a lot! Actually it could be mesh...

Bentley Turbo R two tone chrome

The delete of the chrome strip around the bumper bars does work well with the black.

Very good work sir!

So if you want it, £10,000 and it is yours on Pistonheads here.

Bentley Turbo RT Mulliner in China

Well the HKSAR of China to be precise.

With all the duck, chicken, pork, beef combination special fried rice features. And some special meat from Shenzhen SAR if you know what I mean.

Bentley Turbo RT Mulliner 'AT 1668'

Its got bonet scoops, wing vents, fog lamps, chrome front lamp surrounds, chrome grill surround, matrix grill, 17" 5 spoke wheels, Mulliner flaired wheel arches, side skirts and HKSAR specific front windscreen mounted stickers to get you into both the country club and the golf club. The country club probably has a golf club, so maybe the last bit I made up.

It is such a cool car. It just needs race spots like the brochure.

Bentley Turbo RT Mulliner

And maybe chrome wing mirrors to have the lot.

Here is another view of the car spotted by Flickr user Daryl Chapman.

Bentley Turbo RT Mulliner

Not quite sure if this car has a small rear window, but I hope it does.

I also want it to have a back seat mounted speedo like SCBZP26CWCH66731 here.

Or SCBZP25COWCX66743 here if you prefer a darker wood.

Or maybe it is even turned aluminium like this one here.

Fingers crossed!

It's Getting Cold.

It is getting colder down under now.

But not quite as cold as say, this Bentley Turbo R.

Velvet Bentley

Take a look at this quite normal looking Bentley Turbo R.

Someone has cared for it by painting the B on the alloys.

It has an mesh grill which is not standard and still retains the rectangle lights, resisting the urge to go for the twin round lamps.

From the rear the red coachline does look impressive on the grey paint.

But when you open the door you will notice something quite special.

Not leather darling, velvet!

Velvet all round, including the door panels!

It is just great! Smother it everywhere. It feels good. More. More.

It you want it, buy it for £6,495 from the dealer below.

And for the keen spotters you would have noticed the pre 1987 steering wheel, yep it is a 1985 model. The ad says it is a fuel injection model which sounds suspicious, but if you like velvet...

Bentley Azur 2 Door Spyder by Jankel

Every time I see photos of this model of car I smile.

Is it a matter of people being able to obtain simply what they want.

I want a convertible Bentley Turbo R please.

As Australians say, 'No worries, mate.'

Speak to Mr Robert Jankel and he will make you one. He calls it a Bentley Azur 2 Door Spyder.

And do you want one?

Yes? Well pop yourself on ebay Item number:280598821409 and pick one up from Kyoto, Japan.

Here it is.

It is a very rare sight, in quite a nice colour.

I do wonder what the Badge to the right says? Azur Spyder? Jankel? I'm not sure.

The ebay ad says "1980 Bentley CONVERTIBLE"

"SUPECIAL ORDER MADE 2 DOOR CONVERTIBLE"

"SUPER LOW MILE RUN ONLY 12000KM"

"SUPER RICH ONE OWNER FROM NEW COST U$650000 WHEN NEW"

Now I can not say that this rear seat is quite standard on a Bentley!

Now to the Chassis number SCBZE02B3KCX26706.

So in fact it is not quite a 1980 Bentley as the ad states, but a 1989 Bentley.

And talking about models, it is actually not a Bentley Turbo R, but a Bentley Eight.

There is no Turbo, but it does have a 6.75 Litre V8, naturally aspirated with a catalytic converter.

It certainly one special car.

The ad concludes with "NOW US$62000 INCLUDE SHIPPING FEE TO YOUR BEST SEA PORT japan@i-ml.com"

I would love to own it, but the steering wheel is on the wrong side.

Check out a previous one for sale in Japan here, and a Rolls-Royce version also in Japan previously for sale here.

Good luck to the person who buys it, and thank-you to Lee for sending in the link.
