How to NOT sell a Rolls-Royce on Ebay.

On Ebay today.

Fist rule:

Do NOT leave the bonnet (hood) open:

It implys that something is VERY wrong.

The rubber bullet 'hole' in the door is honest (a Belfast car, maybe?).
So call the bloody 'Dent Doctor' before advertising.
Here's the Toronto one:

It really doesn't look too bad but take some glamorous shots please.
Don't make it look so sad.

RRSUV - Hilton's (valued) Opinion

We have been there many times.
Harold Radford, Panelcraft and Robert Jankel Engineering and the backyard to name a few.

1972 Rolls Royce Estate

Wagon , Estate Car, S.U.V....
People love them.

They go way back.

Use in the real world:

The new RR S.U.V. (Wagon/Estate) world according to Hilton.
Hilton Holloway of the Autocar magazine has this to say about the upcoming Goodwood S.U.V.

As you see he also covers the 102 EX hybrid and the Wraith DHC.

The electric car I like. The Wraith D.H.C. I approve of absolutely.
The S.U.V...?
I am not an S.U.V. person, so I will not provide an opinion.
But it will sell. Porsche has proven that.
And Bentley is doing it soon...

From The Classifieds

This week's From The Classifieds features a Bentley Eight currently for sale in Switzerland. Introduced in October 1984, the Eight was intended as a more sporting and marginally cheaper model for the younger driver.

The most obvious difference from the more expensive Mulsanne was a wire mesh rather than slatted grille. However the Eight also featured slighly firmer suspension and a slightly less luxurious interor.

This example was first registered in April 1988 and has covered 60,800 kms from new:

From 1986 onwards the Eight was fitted with ABS and fuel injection, and from 1987 onwards a full leather and power memory seats also became standards fitments.

This car is unusual in having been fitted with an everflex roof. It also has a painted radiator shell and later 17-inch alloy wheels. And it also appears to have a later large bore exhaust.

It hardly looks like an "entry level" car.

If you're interested, it's on offer at CHF 39,000 or approx. US $43,700 at current exchange rates.

Get them out there. Be seen...

Brilliant product exposure.

I need to see one on the road (not a showroom) in Toronto now.

How Rolls-Royce's mascot is made

This is from Yahoo Finance's page:

How the old girl is made today.
Here's mine:

And here she is today on the modern cars:

So how do they do it?
The story goes:

Then it's melted before it's poured into a form:

Wax forms are finished in batches for the mould process. The 'Lost Wax Process'.

The unfinished Mascots come out of the mould:

Then worker Stephen Richardson cuts off the 'form'

Then the finishing process:

A thorough inspection:

The bad ones are recycled:

And the end result:

Eleanor lives on forever. Charles Sykes would be proud.

Posted by David Irvine -two shots (first and last) are mine and the rest all by Stefan Wermuth/Reuters.
And thanks to JS for finding and sending me this.
