John Player Special

Apparently there were five Silver Shadow IIs built in the famous J.P.S. colours. They were sold as "JPS Inspired", so knowing Crewe, they probably just made it up. All cars were Masons black and Sand with 2 tone black and tan interior. Some had the black seats with tan piping, some the other way round.
They did not have the chrome bumpers we are so familiar with, so they may have run out one week and had to paint them...

Jam Sandwiches

When I grew up in the U.K. a 'Jam Sandwich' car to me was a police Traffic Division car.

But here are two Silver Shadows on Ebay that make me think of jam sandwiches too.

I wonder why...?

First Rolls-Royces and Bentleys

Congratulations to 'W.O' of Bentleyspotting for his first Bentley.
Quite the goal to achieve in a reasonably short time.
Most of us us start small. Some of us move forward. Some go all out.
A good feeling.
And many more to come, I hope.
Out of curiosity I 'Googled'  "First Rolls-Royce" and found just one image of a Trevor Norwood's Silver Spirit. Number plate A7TBN.
Now he's famous.

New Arrival Announcement

Bentley Spotting announces the arrival of a first, hopefully with many more to come.

Born in December 1988 at Crewe, Cheshire UK and first delivered on 21 Mar 1989, to York Motors, Sydney Australia the official Rolls-Royce & Bentley Dealer.

It is a very healthy example weighing 2390 kgs, in acrylic larkspur blue, a Bentley Turbo R.

Now onto it's 3rd keeper having travelled 108404 kms.

With picnic tables, I love it.

That's right, after 5 years to the month of blogging about Bentley Motor cars, I am now a Bentley Driver.

Thank you to all the people who have advised me over the years.

Thank you to all the people who encouraged and supported me with my purchase.

Thank you to all the people who will assist in keeping my Bentley healthy.

And the greatest thank you to all the readers of my blog.

Especially those who have send in emails and information, and to all those who sent in emails and did not received a response, thank you to.

With more and more people reading Bentley Spotting everyday, with well over 700,000 page views, I will keep on going writing about Bentley cars and the occasional Rolls-Royce.

You never know, it may now become more technical because I will have a chance to fix, repair and updates things!

Bentley Turbo R 2 door by Hooper & Co Ltd

Another one resurfaces for sale.

That's right, another Bentley Turbo R 2 door by Hooper & Co Ltd is on the market.

This time in Belgium.

It is thought that around 12 Bentley Turbo R 2 doors were made by Hooper in the late 80s and early 90s.

I do like the bonnet pressings. The look cool, and provide just that little bit of functionality by providing a little bit of air to the engine to be justifiable.

This one has all the features you can ask for. The small Hooper rear window for example.

Take a look at the wood - and length of that door! It is impressive.

Also notice that the ash trays are in the door sill wood.

The interior looks great. The bent wood centre console is quite impressive.

The switches inlaid directly into the wood with no metal surround is different.

The ad says it is an 1987 car, but from the engine, this is a carbi model from 1986.

Virtual Bentley Spotting in Sweden

Tomas from Sweden sent in the Google Streetview link of quite a number of Crewe cars hidden away in Volvoland. Make that Trollhättan.

Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud II 4-door Drophead by H.J. Mulliner

You learn things all the time about coachbuilt cars.

For example did you know that H.J. Mulliner made a Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud II 4-door Drophead?

It looks a little like a Continental Flying Spur with no roof. I like it.

If anyone has contemporary pictures and numbers build please send them in.

Rolls-Royce Silver Spur Hearse by Biemme Special Cars of Italy

Now this one is special.

Based on the Rolls-Royce Silver Spur comes this Hearse by Italian coachbuilder Biemme Special Cars.

It seems that Biemme Special Cars mainly construct hearses, as well as doing the occasional armoured car as well as limousines.

The design is certainly unique, if not a touch flamboyant! So very Italian, which is very appropriate of course.

I do like the balanced curves of the design, and something certainly hard to construct!

I quite like it.
