Rolls Royce Silver Spirit 2 door by Hooper

Here is a collection of photographs taken by three different photographers.

The car is special, and causes a little confusion as most have not seen one before.

It is a Rolls Royce Silver Spirit 2 door by Hooper.

It features the Hooper discreet rear window.

Which makes the C pillar so prominent from the below angle.

The 2 door profile is something else on this car!

It is nice that the badge tells you who made it.

Here is a close up of the Hooper wire wheels. Click image to enlarge.

The front is impressive as well, with Lucas driving lights, a badge bar and Hooper polished trim under the head lights, you know a bit of eye-liner.

From the photographs you can kind of tell where the car lives.

It is good to see a Hooper on the road.

This is an image from space that shows the spot on earth where all the photos have have been taken. I am not sure if the car is the image is the Hooper.

But maybe.

Thanks to the photographers.

Bentley Furniture

Stuart McCullough, Bentley's board member for sales and marketing discusses what the Crewe staff have been up to during the cut in car production from late last year.

The designers have been designing furniture for a remodel of the factory's reception area, and the wood workers have been making the furniture. Nice.

Keeping people busy and the skill in house no doubt!

If anyone has pictures, send them in.

Bentley Battery Charger

Feeling drained?

You can use a genuine part to charge up your battery. Nice.

Probably not the most economic though.

PKR 854 Bentley Mk6 Special

Bentley Specials are always a bit, well special.

Especially when they have a personal meaning. Like say, your Dad made it! Let's take a look.

Mark sent in some details of his Bentley Mk6 Special registration PKR 854 made by his father.

The Mk6 started life with a standard steel saloon body that was first registered in the UK on 11 Jan. l951

By 1970 it had reached the end of its life and was relegated to the scrap yard where it was purchased for 85 pounds. The bodywork was full of rust and the engine seized.

The old bodywork was removed and a two-seater body fitted. The suspension was lowered to compensate for the removal of 1 tonne of steel. The radiator was lowered and the steering column angle reduced to match the new body profile.

The chassis was chopped and filled retaining the same wheelbase but moving the engine back 12 inches to achieve a better weight distribution. The fuel tank was retained and rotated 90 degrees.

The engine, gearbox and running gear remains as original.

The rebuild took about 12 yrs and Mark's father undertook all work except the painting. During the next 25 years the car travelled extensively throughout Europe and made two trips to New Zealand.

After his fathers death the car was imported to Australia from the United Kingdom in August 2007.

The car is now undergoing a rolling restoration and some extended maintenance.

The car was registered in Queensland with the same UK number plate PKR 854.

It is special!

My tip would be to leave the UK plates on the car! I know it's naughty missing the 'QLD' on the plate, but when the Police pull you over they will probably check the Rego sticker and see the number is the same. Hopefully they will give you a wink and send you on your way. They would only want to have a look at the car anyway! It is actually what a lot of the W.O owners do.... cheeky!

Bentley Continental T snowed in

Adam spotted this Bentley Continental T that has had some interaction with the environment.

It's not a sight you see everyday.

It is a British registered car, and the photo was taken in Poland.

Touring the continent in a Continental no doubt.

Styling Japan

Styling Japan - Car Soft Wear and Coach-Building.

My comprehension of soft wear is slightly hazy - well not hazy but bedazzled. Bedazzled by the glitzy gold grill of the Styling Japan Bentley Turbo R.

Styling Japan Bentley

Gold badgeing and gold mascots are obviously not enough for the discerning Japanese customer. A gold grill is where it is at.

But why stop there? This is car soft wear! Gold pin stripes, gold B on the wheels and gold eye liner is just what the Bentley needs! That a close look.

Styling Japan Bentley

And the rest? Well it has a custom body kit, with a built in rear spoiler. That is actually some serious body work.

Styling Japan Bentley

Here are the cars features. I'm just not sure what they say...

Styling Japan Bentley

Do not think this is a blast from the 1980's past! It is well current. That is right. Styling Japan is still offering this body kit and 'soft wear' for the Bentley Turbo R today.

Here is a white example from their website Styling-J.com

Styling Japan Bentley

'We coachbuild do the car of an ideal.' Indeed! It is an ideal car.

The dual roof mounted aerials are very good!

Styling Japan Bentley

Take a look at the interiors. They are beautiful.

Update the gadgets, but keep the wood and I'll take one!

Bentley Continental Supersports

The details of the new Project Victoria are now released.

The car is the new Bentley Continental Supersports.

From the Press Release:

The fastest most powerful Bentley in the company’s 90-year history

* 6-litre W12 engine twin-turbocharged engine now produces 630PS (621 bhp/463 kW) at 6000 rev/min and 800 Nm (590 lb ft) of torque at 1700 – 5600 rev/min
* 0 – 60 mph in 3.7 seconds (0-100 km/h in 3.9 seconds)
* 0 -100 mph (0-160 km/h) in 8.9 seconds
* 50 – 70 mph in 2.1 seconds
* 80 – 120 km/h in 2.6 seconds
* Top speed of 204 mph (329 km/h)

Continental Supersports reaffirms Bentley’s environmental commitment by pioneering the use of biofuel in the luxury sector

* Capable of running on petrol and E85 biofuel or any combination of the two
* Power and torque remain constant whatever the ratio of petrol to E85 biofuel
* A Fuel Quality Sensor detects the blending ratio of the fuel in real time sending a signal to the engine control unit (ECU), initiating the correct engine mapping. This ensures all performance parameters remain balanced and consistent.
* Offers a reduction in CO2 emissions of up to 70% (well-to-wheel), a measure of a fuel’s net contribution to the atmosphere, not just tailpipe emissions

Continental Supersports is the extreme Bentley, delivering a highly focused driving experience

* Revised ZF 6HP26 transmission with ‘Quickshift’ system that cuts shift times by 50% and enables double downshifts
* New 40/60 rear-biased torque split for the all-wheel drive system reduces understeer when powering out of bends and provides for better modulation of line and attitude by ‘throttle steering’
* Uprated front suspension with aluminium forward levers, stiffer bushes together with retuned anti roll bar and Servotronic steering for sharper turn-in
* Revised Continuous Damping Control (CDC) for improved body control
* Unique lightweight, 20-inch, 10-spoke alloy wheels offer 10 kg (22 lb) weight saving per car, reducing unsprung and rotating mass and improving brake cooling. Increased 25 mm (I inch) offset on rear wheels improves grip and stability
* 275/35 ZR20 Pirelli Ultra High Performance tyres
* Advanced ESP system fully exploits potential of the most powerful W12 engine and improved chassis
* Standard-fit carbon-ceramic brakes – the largest and most powerful brakes ever fitted to a production car - contribute 20 kg (44 lb) weight saving
* 110 kg (243 lb) weight saving compared to Continental GT Speed

Continental Supersports combines the looks of the iconic GT with a distinctive style that reflects its supercar character

* Form follows function: distinctive centre air intake and vertical grilles feed larger volume of air (+ 10%) to turbocharger intercoolers while bonnet vents extract hot air from engine bay

* Subtly curved rear wheel arches with newly tooled side panels accommodate increased rear track of the uprated chassis and provide muscular stance
* Distinctive ‘smoked steel finish’ to all exterior ‘brightware’, including the first automotive application of ‘Physical Vapour Deposition’ to stainless steel
* Larger, twin elliptical exhaust tailpipes and rear valance with discreet vertical divider
* 2 new pearlescent and 2 new matt finish colours
* Unique driver-focused, two-seater cabin with lightweight sports seats, giving a 45 kg (99 lb) weight saving

* Rear seats replaced by stowage deck with carbon fibre luggage retaining beam

* AlcantaraTM, carbon fibre and ‘Soft Touch’ leather’ provide a very different interpretation of Bentley craftsmanship with choice of Single Tone and Duo Tone combinations

And were does the 'Supersports' name come from?

This one.

The New Rolls Royce

Let us simply take a close up look at the new Rolls Royce.

The name is yet to be announced.

But with precedence the name should follow the Rolls Royce convention.

The precedence of naming this car is as follows:
Silver Ghost
Silver Wraith
Silver Dawn
Silver Cloud
Silver Shadow
Silver Spirit
Silver Seraph

So the name of Rolls Royce 200EX should be the Rolls Royce Silver 'Something Quite and a touch Mystical'. Start the guessing game.

Now to the body shape longevity. It has a lot to live up to.

Again let us look at precedence:
Silver Shadow ~ 30 years
Silver Spirit ~ 20 years
Silver Seraph ~ 12 years

So according to the imaginary graph the new body shape should last for 5-6 years. Somehow I think that is a little short.
