Now and Then

Now lets do a bit of integration of old and new technology.

In the 1970's and 1980's David was a avid Bentley spotter, and went around with his film camera taking pictures of Rolls Royce and Bentley cars.

Now with the ease of the internet, and companies like Google, we can just go looking around the world spotting cars from our computers. I first wrote about Virtual Bentley Spotting two years ago. Read about it here.

Now let's check out a photo the David took 33 years ago at 60 Beechill Park West, Belfast, Northern Ireland.

And now lets have a look at what Google Street View gives up today.

The house in the background is pretty much the same. The window colour has changed from blue to white, and the next doors front fence is no longer, but the fence pillars are the same. Pity no beautiful car is there.

Now for another. How about 212 Saintfield Road, Castlereagh, Northern Ireland.

This photo was taken in 1980.

Oh damn - the Bentley S3 is no longer there.

And the final look. This time at 30 Beechill Park East, Belfast, Northern Ireland.

Hopefully you have been clicking and moving the interactive map around above.

This is what was there 29 years ago.

Thanks David for the photos and their locations.
