Brooklands
Today I went to familiar Bentley territory.
Yep, I went to Brooklands.
The home of the British Racing Club.
Here is the club house.
But just before the club house is this little stretch on road up a hill.
Looks stndard, but really this is the Brooklands Hill Test.
How much horsepower does your car have?
"It is 352 feet long and divided into three sections, starting with a gradient of 1 in 8, then 1 in 5 and the top third has a gradient of 1 in 4. It was used by manufacturers to test both the ability of cars to climb steep hills and also of their brakes to stop them coming down."
I like this Hill - in 2007 I did something cool and wrote about the Napier Bentley Hill Climb at Brooklands.
It was very cutting edge at the time - 4 people had uploaded videos of the event, and I re-editted then into a multi camera do.
In the museum they do have a good Bentley and Rolls-Royce model collection.
Today this was hanging around.
A nice 4.5L W.O. with Brooklands history.
It's always special to see a W.O. and better at a special place.
Brooklands, that it.
I do like the front.
There was more about the Bentley Boys.
What's also cool at Brooklands?
This.
Get on board.
It's amazing to see a Concorde.
It is simply stunning.
Has four engines.
Rolls-Royce of course.
Inside was larger than I thought - I thought it was really small.
Yeah I could fly that no problems.
But the real reason why I went to Brooklands?
For this.
Arr the bridge.
And the classic shot.
I've seen a lot of new and old cars photographed there.
The bank was cool - and large!
And steep!
There was also quite a bit of Bentley art around.
Arr The Birkin Bentley - still causing trouble today.
There was also this plane the VC10. Picture taken from underneath the Concorde.
It's special because is has storage for your Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud Mk III.
How special is that!
The Sultan of Omar then bought it.
And converted the garage into a sleeper.
With a nice dunny as well.
I did have a good day.
1 Comments:
Hi, any chance to know where the Silver Cloud III loaded on the aircraft photo comes from?
Does exist any higher resolution version?
Thanks Davide
