Every kid has a hero they look up to...
Today I met him.
Sir David Plastow, former Chairman of Rolls-Royce Motorcars from 1972 to 1980.
The man who took the helm after the company's bankruptcy in 1971 and led it through their best period - the late seventies.
The man responsible for the Camargue and Silver Shadow II/Wraith II models.
I admired him.
Now I have met him in person.
Here he is beside two Camargues:
With his lovely wife:
And with some old Northern Irish RR nut...
Now with my Silver Shadow 1800TU - he loved my number plate!
How many people can say Sir David Plastow sat behind the wheel of their Rolls-Royce?
And he signed my Silver Shadow brochure:
A wonderful man indeed...
A pleasure to meet.

Fantastic pics David. I too greatly admired Sir David and would love to meet him; he presided over a very challenging time at R-R and worked wonders at Crewe, especially with regard to industrial relations. And, unlike many of today's industrialists, he got on with it and didn't chase headlines or TV deals...
