It sound like a BBC/WNED Buffalo TV drama series but the Eatons were 'Canada's Royalty'.
Timothy Eaton came to Canada in the mid 1880's from Ballymena, Northern Ireland.
He started work in a haberdashery store in Ontario and eventually built a colossal retail empire by cleverly introducing a Canada wide mail order catalogue. Leading to massive department stores.
For generations his Eaton stores lived on.
The Toronto Eaton Centre is named after him.
That empire has faded away but the family lives on.
OK, so what has this got to do with Rolls-Royce or Bentley cars? You ask....
Well, the Eatons have owned a number of Rolls-Royces.
The most famous one being Timothy's daughter in law's Silver Ghost known as 'Ladybird'
Well another Eaton Rolls-Royce is now available on Ebay.....
A 1987 Silver Spirit formerly owned by Timothy's great grandson (in his wife's name...)
In it's original Balmoral Green.
A nice example. Complete with all the philanthropist's window stickers from various clubs and organisations.
I really love that this is an important Canadian car. Almost like the Bentley Mulsanne that the Royal family sold off recently.
A special car with an important family ownership.
How cool is that to any of you Canadians out there...?
