The 1996 Bentley Buccaneer with One that Gets Around

The Bentley Buccaneer is a coachbuilt car for the Royal Family of Brunei.

A total of 6 were made all in 1996 and were designed by GMD or Geoff Matthews Design from Coventry and were built by FD, France Design from Le Pin in France.

The car is based off a Continental R (SZ) chassis and contained the L-Series SuFaCon 6.75L Twin Turbo engine specially build for the Royal Family of Brunei, and can be seen in pictures below.

Of the 6 cars 5 had photos taken in the 2001 garage picture program.

Three were located in Garage 1 Level 1 (upper level), one was in the Black Room Gallery, one was on the ground floor, with the radiator fan on the front seat, presumably requiring repair.

Here is a contemporary picture of SCBZH16C3TCH00434.

It is extremely rare to see a contemporary picture of a coachbuilt car for Brunei being used.

It is know that this car was taken to New Zealand for a recommissioning, and there are photos of this car at Ferrari in Auckland. 

We now know that SCBZH16C3TCH00434 is this black car, as all the other 5 cars are different specifications.

Rumour has it that this car is in possession of a Royal who has been allowed to use it, so potentially a brother.

Here is the Blue on Blue Bentley Buccaneer, casually parked next to a 6 door Range Rover Classic.

The rear headlamp design is quite unique.

Now we can see why this car is not in the usual gallery. The radiator fan is not meant to be on the front seat! Someone obviously put it in the wrong place.

This one is in the Black Room Gallery on display.

It's called the Black Room, because it's black.

It is displayed next to a Bentley Grand Prix and a Bentley Continental R 4 door saloon. 

It very much does have Continental GT styling. 

The 1990's styling can be observed in the curvy interior.

The controls are standard Bentley Continental R configuration. 

The door handle detailing is quite dramatic.

We are now in the Garage 1, Upper Level, where a lot of other coachbuilt Bentleys are housed.

There is a Bentley Monte Carlo peeking up behind, and another Bentley Buccaneer in front.
