Earl's Grey T

It's always interesting when you can find something significant in a car's history.

Here's a VERY special 1967 Bentley T.

Ok, so it's actually blue, not grey.....

Onto the story:
Earl's Court in London. Home of the Motorshows many years ago.

Back in 1967:

Back then Rolls-Royce and Bentley actually had separate stands.
Two Bentleys. One LHD and one RHD on display in 1967.
Rippon Brothers Ltd. originally ordered a Sand over Sable Bentley T for the show but then changed the order. Note the bit at the bottom saying 'Earl's Court Show'.
Here's the amendment:

A quick stroke of a pen....
Then the official order showing the Astral Blue and blue leather:

Well, that RHD car recently turned up on Ebay U.S.A. (now sold).
Even sporting it's original 1967 Huddersfiled number plate. MCX666F

With it's blue leather interior.

With wonderful period Paddy Hopkirk Accessories door mirrors.

What an amazing conversation piece for any car event.
An Earl's Court Car.
A gorgeous car too.

Casa Loma

I had to post this.

The 'new' Old Thing outside Toronto's famous Casa Loma's stable building.

Lucky horses.

But apparently there is a small old car collection in that building.

My photos are just the stables.
Check out the site for Toronto's famous castle.

Bentley Chasing.

I often seem to creep up on modern cars minding their own business.

Some notice that my car is the same brand as theirs - many don't.

Sad...

Homeward Bound

So after a brilliant week, it's time for the long trek home.

I take a detour to drop my good friend Rodd off at Asheville Airport only to find that the flight has been cancelled. No reason given at all.
We think the pilot didn't feel like flying today.
So a dilemma......

Road trip!

I now have a passenger!

What a laugh we had....

Lunch in Tennessee.

Odd signs....

Coffee.

The famous Kentucky grass.

Downtown Dayton.

Sunrise.
Note the road name...

Gas

Finally real coffee.

And home.

Total mileage for the week 1,800. That's 3,000kms. And a lot of fuel.
- And a lotta coffee.
