Queste

I have a handful of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars' old 'Queste' magazine.

They are full of great photos.

Silver Spirit

Silver Spur

Silver Spirit again

Bentley Eight

Bentley Turbo R

And another Silver Spur

Old copies of Queste (like everything else) can be found on Ebay.

Symbol Magazine

Some images from a couple of 1980s Symbol Magazines I forgot I had.
'The international magazine dedicated to the friends of Rolls-Royce motor cars, Ferrari cars and Riva yachts' which ran from 1978 to the early nineties.

Silver Ghost AX201

The (then) new Bentley Continental R sporting none other than the 1800TU plate.

What a great photo of one of my favourite Crewe cars.

But Rolls-Royce's own magazine 'Queste' was better....

Styling Department at Crewe, 1988.

Twenty four years ago...

Some scenes and sketches from behind that old door at Crewe with the sign saying 'Knock and wait'.

Few people were admitted to their secretive Styling Department. The design work being carried out may not have seen the light of day for five to ten years, so security was vitally important.
Back then in the late eighties one of the biggest challenges was the doubled workload due to the re-establishment of Bentley as a separate marque - not just the 'badge engineering' as it had become. A road wheel that was quite satisfactory on a Rolls-Royce would not meet the more sporting criteria laid down for Bentley and both marques had their own distinctive interiors.
Unlike today, everything was designed In House.

Sketches for Bentley and Rolls-Royce air dams:

A one quarter scale clay mock up of possibly Project 90.

And a sketch of a Bentley concept that never was...

Bentley meets Aston Martin Bulldog, BMW 850 and Chrysler Daytona?
Very eighties - it could have been interesting.

'Hip' Flask

An old ad for what are actually decanters, but very 'Hip'.

24

We all think Kiefer Sutherland is great,

But there is another significant '24' out there.

Vorsteiner's 24 inch alloys for the Rolls-Royce Ghost.

Very cool...But I do hope it doesn't compromise the ride quality.

"Tuner extraordinaire, Vorsteiner, recently prepared a program for the Bentley Continental GT, leading some people to think that the tuner was favouring Bentley in the luxury car market. Well, you can put all those "bias" questions aside because they've come back with a separate program for the Continental's chief nemesis, the Rolls-Royce Ghost."

"We certainly have no objections to Vorsteiner's interest in these two British luxury cars, especially when they have developed a package that maintains the Ghost's luxury style while also adding functionality to compliment the car's impressive performance credentials. For starters, the front end of the Ghost was given a new add-on spoiler to go with a replaceable GT center chin splitter. The changes look subtle aesthetically, but it does add a touch of sportiness to the car's front profile. From there, Vorsteiner also added new side skirts and blade attachments, as well as integrating wing elements that further add even more aerodynamic enhancements through additional downforce. Over at the rear, you'll find a new carbon fiber rear deckled spoiler, as well as an add-on rear diffuser, which incidentally, comes with integrated aero fins. All these materials are made of Autoclave pre-preg carbon fiber technology, ensuring that whatever Vorsteiner puts in the Ghost is as strong and durable as any material in the market.

Rounding out all the changes are a new set of 24" 3-piece Forged Aluminum Wheels with factory floating center cap adapters that can be added as an option to the Vorsteiner's aero package."

It works...

A Stitch in Time..

Spotted on a Silver Shadow II presented on Ebay  - a very sorry looking leather trimmed steering wheel.

I think Kath must've called in sick when this car was made...

FHC This - I Give Up...

A sad but possibly salvageable Silver Shadow 2 door FHC on Ebay:

The chrome looks good. Well, what there is of it...

Some bits are not so good.

Oh well, let's just forget about it and have another beer.

Someone, please rescue it....

You could always 'Pimp' it.

At least someone is making an effort to move it on.

Double Dipped

Well, they'd done it for years on their other cars:

But until now the Rolls-Royce Ghost was actually not available with two tone paintwork.

Only with the brushed aluminium bonnet shown here :

For the first time in the life of the Rolls-Royce Ghost, the company is offering a two-tone color scheme as a "bespoke" factory option. The company's stand at the Geneva Motor Show was used to display the first two examples. One with Infinity Black topped by Cassiopeia Silver shown here with Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Ltd.'s CEO  Torsten Mueller-Oetvoes:

On this car the silver colour carrying all the way to back looks fantastic.

And another in Baynunah Brown capped by Arizona Sun, with a gold-plated hood ornament and a gold double coach-line.
Not my choice of colours but it is striking.

It works well and I look forward to many different combinations no matter how tasteful or bizarre they may be.

Just like the good old days....

Office K from Japan

The company Office K from Japan do some pretty amazing modifications and customisations.

I am a fan of their Conti T here.

But check this out.

Described as a OFFICE-K ROLLS ROYCE PHANTOM PARTY DUBAI STREET in TOKYO.

The line up of modified Phantoms is just amazing.

The body kits are from Wald, Auto Couture as well as Junction Produce.

And more.

And more and more.

Impressive.

They are all crazy, including this one called a Wald Black Bisen EWB. It has a Phantom DHC front on a EWB.

Wow.

Irish wedding car

An Irish wedding car in Cardinal Red....

Not the first colour choice I would think of for a wedding car.

evo Diaries - Bentley Continental V8 GTC

Probably not the weather Bentley expected.

But fun.

Happy St.Patrick's Day!

Oh, the green. Forty shades O' Green...

(That's enough, I'm not going to post forty cars)

We'll keep this one in the garage until tomorrow:

Otherwise this green thing will have to come out:

Happy Saint Patrick's Day.
