Rolls-Royce Phantom EWB by Mutec

Spotted on the street, in Japan by Andy the very rare Rolls-Royce Phantom extra extended wheelbase option from the official coachbuilder Mutec.

There is a 1100mm lengthening to the Rolls Royce Phantom EWB.

Certainly not a car you would expect to spot every day.

And for those who want to see... here is how Mutec cars look from the inside.

More on the Mutec Phantom here.

Decisions Decisions - 18s, 20s, 22s or 24 inch rims

You know you want to.

Should you go with 22" rims on your 1988 Silver Spirit?

Or should you go with 24" rims on your 1986 Silver Spur?

Or if you are more of the Silver Shadow man, how about going with some 18" rims?

Love it!

But what about your drop top? Go with 20" rims - make sure you got switches!

You know it's cool, even through it is so, so wrong.

Rolls-Royce Silver Wraith II

Rodd Sala has listed this very nice 1980 Rolls-Royce Silver Wraith II.

It's VIN is LRL41175C - where the "C" is for California, so it is the very rare electronic fuel injection model, that only became standard in all markets at the end of 1987.

If you want it, get it in ebay here.

Failed to Proceed

A Rolls-Royce term used when their product, euh.. - "fails to proceed". They don't 'break down'.

Lots of my other cars have broken down, but yesterday the old girl "failed to proceed".
Minor fault - she'll be back soon....
She failed, very conveniently right outside my house after a 300km drive..
Someone's watching over me. Henry or Charles...?

It's amazing.

Bentley Turbo RT Mulliner

The Bentley Turbo RT Mulliner really is a beautiful car.

Let's take a walk around this one in Japan.

Love the bonnet scoops, the chrome rear view mirrors and the turned alloy interior.

Do you want one?

How about this one.

It has turned up for sale in the US.

I certainly do like it.

It does not have the bonnet scoops, or the small rear window, but oh well.

It does have the wing vents and the chrome 5 spoke alloys.

The piano black wood certainly does look good, as does the big red start button.

The mulberry red seat inserts sets the interior apart.

I'll take it if it was a right hooker.

For sale from here for $USD90000.

Future classic indeed.

Here is a good walk around and drive.

Update - the car is currently on ebay here.

Ultimate Performance Cars By Craig Cheetham

I probably should use Google Books a bit more.

Here is an extract from "Ultimate Performance Cars By Craig Cheetham" on the Bentely Turbo R.

Rolls-Royce Phantom Coupe 9.0L V16

Here is a Rolls-Royce Phantom Coupe with an experimental 9.0 Litre V16 engine.

Let Rowan Atkinson explain what is truly the Rolls-Royce of automobiles.

He even made an appearance on Top Gear to promote the movie.

Now take a close look at the Top Gear seats on the stage.

Yes, they are in fact the seats from a Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow II. How appropriate. David pointed this out quite sometime ago.

For the Premier in Sydney, they actually bought the car down under. Cel Sydney was there, and check it out here.

2011 Bentley Continental GTC Commercial

Nice. The music is by Jacqueline Taïeb called 7 H du matin.

Here is the whole launch film from Bentley Motors.

Still nice.

Bentley Buccaneer made by Heuliez for the Sultan of Brunei

I do like the 1996 Bentley Buccaneer made for the Sultan of Brunei made by the French coachbuilder Heuliez. I am unaware who designed it, but to me it does look Italian, and could have been Zagato.

Bentley Buccaneer

It really is a design study precursor to the Bentley Continental GT.

Bentley knew where they were heading design wise, and having a customer like the Sultan of Brunei willing to spend millions on each car enables them to push the envelope and come up with the future, well before the public got a glimpse.

Bentley Buccaneer

Just look at it. This is in 1996. Bentley GT.

The Bentley was built in Crewe in 1996, has dual airbags, features a 6.75 Litre V8, single Garrett turbocharger, non-catalyst engine is right hand drive and is built on the special "ZH" chassis, like many of the other Sultan car.

Bentley Buccaneer

The VIN numbers, model and Brunei registration numbers for the 6 made are as follows:

SCBZH16C3TCH00434 Bentley Buccaneer BM 1154
SCBZH16C5TCH00435 Bentley Buccaneer BP 2121
SCBZH16C7TCH00436 Bentley Buccaneer KF 9998
SCBZH16C9TCH00437 Bentley Buccaneer KF 9997
SCBZH16C0TCH00438 Bentley Buccaneer BQ 1122
SCBZH16C2TCH00439 Bentley Buccaneer BP 9191

Now some new photos!

Heuliez have uploaded some photos of the car being constructed.

Here it is in what I think is known as the body in white stage if it had been constructed in Crewe.

Bentley Buccaneer

Now at the paint stage. Just look at the front. The design is so forward thinking. It looks like it could have been made today, not 15 years ago!

Bentley Buccaneer

Now some interior shots. Not standard Bentley at all. I do like the oversized B logo on the rear pillar.

Bentley Buccaneer

Take a look at the interior light detail, it evens looks a little art deco. It actually reflects the front fender coachline detail as well.

Retro and fresh at the same time.

Bentley Buccaneer

Thank you so much to Heuliez for uploading these photos.

Hopefully more will appear over time.

Thanks to Maurice for sending in the photos.

British Car Day Bronte Creek 2011

Well, here are the Participants' Choice top two Rolls-Royces out of about 25 RRs of all years and models :

A Phantom III and a II (please correct me if I'm wrong) in outstanding condition. Not sure in which order as they both have the same owner (Andrew). Sorry, but the photo of the blue car is a shot from last year as I did not take a clear one today.

1800TU, again

Well, she's finally back in Toronto again after her facelift.

Here she is on Saturday sporting a replica '1800TU' British number plate - as opposed to to the boring Ontario plate of the same digits.

Followed by that famous RR press/brochure shot from 1977. Not sure if I can duplicate that shot in my car...

And here's the latest Youtube video:

(posted by David Irvine- and many more thanks to Rodd....)
